Touch rugby has really hit the mark in the Midlands this season. For the first time outside of London mixed teams for Touch have sold out. This new record-breaking amount means there are over 500 people in the East Midlands taking up the sport. There are 24 mixed teams and 10 men’s teams playing touch. Touch rugby operates the same as Rugby, but it is a minimal contact sport. It is open to male, females, beginners or past players and is a great way to keep fit. As it is open to all levels of fitness and all sexes, it is a great way to socialise especially as the nights get warmer. Established leagues already operate in Nottingham and Leicester and there are plans to develop further locations across the Midlands. Every Monday night at 6:30pm at Nottingham’s Rugby Ground, Lady Bay, West Bridgford, they run Taster Sessions for anyone to come and have a try at the game.
